A partir del arribo de naves europeas a la isla La Española a finales del Siglo Quince empieza a perfilarse la certeza de la forma esférica del planeta (Esfera terrestre) y a completarse el mapa del mundo. Las culturas de tres continentes (América, Europa, Africa) coinciden en esa isla-puente y desde allí se propician las bases logísticas para inéditas incursiones a Tierra Firme. La Edad Media inicia su declive y la humanidad inaugura un período de asombros -de sombras y de luces- que va abriendo paso a la Edad Moderna, a la Epoca Contemporánea y a la proyección de una Post-modernidad que recién empieza a proclamarse.
